How she weaseled a free quilt out of me

Who starts making a baby quilt (for the first time in her life) at 9pm thinking it can be completed in its entirety by 11:30 but in actuality 7am?  This girl.

And how was someone able to weasel a free quilt out of me?  Well, because sometimes I’m a pushover without anyone pushing, and when your baby cousin isn’t a baby anymore and graduates from college, you want to bless her with a good gift.  (She wanted to use her bridesmaids dress she wore at her friend’s wedding in the quilt, for this friend’s first baby.) When you do challenge yourself, however, you learn a new skill and come out with a pretty fantastic product!  It’s not perfect, but I’m pleased.

It’s a good thing I’m good at math. Figuring out how long each piece was supposed to be was easy. It was all easy, it’s just time consuming. I wanted to do the cool loopy stitch to stitch the quilt down, but I didn’t know how to do it so I just did wavy lines. I actually don’t even remember most of making the quilt, I was so delirious from lack of sleep. I barely remember watching Pride & Prejudice and Fever Pitch while making this as well.

I used a cute duck patterned fabric as the binding, using 2.5″ wide binding. I was on auto-mode, so i remember thinking, “I don’t know how they put a binding on, that’s important…. I know- Youtube!.” Here’s the video on how to sew on bias binding. And somehow that got done in no time.  My goal wasn’t getting the quilt done, it was getting it done so that I could go to bed.

On to the next!
