Fashion Friday: cheap and ugly midi vintage skirts are in

I found a matching polyester skirt/shirtjacket set years ago for a dollar that I never wore until recently.  The first time I wore this prairie skirt I paired it with a loose t-shirt and brown Aerosoles sandals- the kind you could catch your grandma wearing. I was teaching an art class at a boys home so I had to look ultra-conservative.  I asked my boss what he thought of my outfit and he said “you look like a homeschool mom.”  I’ll take that as a compliment since that was my desired outcome.

I had decided to start wearing more long skirts lately, both vintage and new, because they’re more modest and I can more easily lounge around in one than in a mini skirt.  The general fashion rule with vintage pieces, however, is if you wear a vintage piece, all of your other garments and accessories need to be modern so that you won’t look dated.
