Going rogue: Rick Owens Paris Fashion Week spring 2014 ready to wear

I have a new favorite artist: Rick Owens. His Paris spring 2014 ready to wear fashion show was amazing on so many levels… From fashion, artistic, and social perspectives, Owens’ show is poignant when juxtaposed with the standard waif 5’10” model of mostly European decent with a signature runway walk.  It always takes a free thinker to challenge the norms of any institution, and since the fashion industry has a hold on our beliefs of what beauty is, who better than someone on the inside to go rogue and bring us this video below.

If I were honest, you’d know that my first thoughts were “when this part is over, the real models will come out.”  It was then that I realized that these were Owens’ signature structured and draped pieces, here are the models in front of me, and the choreography and show was meant to convey more to us than a pretty the-next-thing garment.
