My Favorite Business Books to Read that are Moving Me Forward: Berger, Lechter, Tagg, Weylman

Cupcakes and Contagious

You know what I love about home? Besides the fact that I can wear my snowman pajamas all day, is I can cook a fancy meal with dessert for four people for less than the cost of one meal eating out, and afterwards I don’t have to drive back home, I just plop on the couch and chill. I think about life in my 20s, always wanting to be out and about, but now I’m like Beth from Little Women:

It’s not that I am boring anymore (it is hoped) or lack the desire for adventure. I’ve just travelled enough and experienced enough life to know that I prefer much more adventure in the form of relationships, knitting, cooking. Is it strange that we are planning/budgeting for a future trip to Japan and my idea of fun is going to the public library and perusing the stacks? Can I get an Amen? Perhaps this is my internal clock telling me I should have a baby, which everyone around me would love. I feel like everything I say seems like a subtle hint prompting “Wait- Does that mean you’re having a baby?!”

Here are a few of the books I’ve checked out that I am enjoying reading: Contagious by Jonah Berger, The Power of Why by C. Richard Weylman, and Think and Grow Rich for Women by Sharon Lechter. I also just finished the rom-com book Here to Stay by my buddy Melissa Tagg and it was a delight to read! Contagious is about why products, videos, etc. go viral. It’s fascinating! This is a must-read for sure if you’re in business.

This week was a bit boring, yet satisfying. Tuesday we woke around 5am to go to mass at the ruins of Mission San Juan Capistrano, and then I just went to work with my hubby, and at lunch we went on a hike at Pectin Reef Loop and saw 17 million year old fossils. I volunteered for a few hours to scan a bunch of articles for the archives, and some of the articles caught my eye, one of which Pastor Rick interviewed President Obama, so I got a copy to read later. I am just so impressed with Pastor Rick and Kay, they are very kind and compassionate people. In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, I have been praying and searching for what I want to say yes or no to in regards to giving of my time and resources, to help those in need. I want to fully use this Jubilee Year, because I have been waiting for someone to sound the horn and bring back the Jubilee Year, and now it’s here! I am rebranding and creating new products for my two brands, and I am antsy to get them up and running. For my other brand, I am so excited to be doing a pop-up shop at the West Elm store in Santa Monica, but there is much work to be done. Where is my fairy godmother?
